Our Pater who lives in a haven!

Charles, if you will permit? I would suggest that "father", is or was equated to the supreme pontiff (maximus) who lived in a "Safe port / Haven" (heaven), where all things were good!
Remember it was only thru the "Earthly Pater Maximus", that appeals to the "most High God", could be made!
Of course we are told that in many societies sometimes both the spiritual and lay powers resided in one individual! The Hebrews had it, the Egyptians had it, the Persians, the Romans had it, etc.
