Far, Far East to Eden

Myth provides some indication that early man looked toward the heavens as the place of origin, but of course that is a matter of interpretation.
I see no reason why the current state of the planet should not be the result of some combination of evolution and tampering by outside intelligent agents. But we're not going to solve those kind of "big questions" here.
One of the things that intrigues me most about the royal family is their total commitment to maximal inbreeding. Were they trying to turn themselves into a new species or restore the attributes of some long-lost race? Or was it just another example of slavish adherance to tradition, that is, they did it because their ancestors had always done it.
