Amenenhotep II was perhaps not the most renowned pharaoh to play the role of Jacob, but in the eyes of the Genesis author he was the greatest. Not only for what he may have done or not done, but because he was the first Jacob to follow Abraham (Egyptian Djehuty). Likewise, Yuya was the first prince to play Joseph after the time of Abraham.
The life of Abraham was a watershed in the Genesis account. Genesis is anti-kingship in philosophy, and Abraham esteemed other things (like peace and knowledge) above the pursuit of power.
