"May the Circle Go Unbroken, Bye and Bye ..."

When you get to the end of the book, you will see that the royal family was divided over the destruction of Thebes (Jerusalem I) in Egypt. Some asserted (through prophesy) that Egypt would lay fallow for a time and then be restored as before. In other words the grand cycle would repeat once more. Others felt it was high time that the vicious circle be broken and (also prophesied) that Egypt should be wrecked beyond repair and never again become the center of world domination.
In the Persian Period, a successful rebellion led to the independence of Egypt for a time. Then came the conquest of Alexander, who coveted the approval of Amun and was apparently greeted with open arms in Egypt. If he had lived, one must wonder if Alexander would have deliberately repeated history by making Egypt his primary royal court and capital.
- A bit far out?
