Mauritania (a.k.a. Numibia)

Yes, this would give a whole new meaning to "span of control". As far-reaching as the Roman empire was, so it was seemingly matched by the interests and ambitions of the Herodians. And if these fractured kingdoms of Herod represented a continuation of the former Ptolemaic administration, then I think we must accept it as not only possible but fully expected.

What kingship meant in a practical sense to Herod the Great in Numibia is hard to say. Maybe he just had a double stand on the balcony of the palace and wave to the people from time to time. I also don't know to what extent coins and other artifacts attesting to an actual reign (of Juba II)have been found there.
