TeK Head, it's been awhile, how are you?
Indications are that Yahweh was an abstract deity. He was thought of as all gods and therefore above all gods. He was every, but also the one. I'm working on a new chapter that will try to explain this more fully.
I believe that prophesy is based on an understanding that things that have happened usually happen again. If one knows the history of the world, both human and natural, then they can be somewhat successful in predicting the future. In that sense, an accurate ancient chronology becomes more than an academic exercise. Determining the proper date for the Great Flood may be a matter of life and death. Whatever caused the end of age of the gods may be coming 'round again. The gods knew it was coming. Can we now do the same?
