Thanks Ozzie for fielding this question in my absense. You are quite correct. I should add however that each major Egyptian era had at least one Jacob and Joseph figure, including the Hyksos dynasty. The Hyksos Jacob was called Yakhub-hor. (He "grabbed" the throne after the death of Salitis/Joshua I.) The lesson here is that the Patriarchal name types were recycled even as is done in families today and over many, many generations. In the case of the pharaohs there is also a recognizable pattern to this recycling that was based on the dynasty of the gods and was deliberately repeated in the Old, Middle, Hyksos, and New Kingdoms. The book traces this history of a continuous ruling house.
