The only god we should love and respect is the universal god that is revealed in science. Science is therefore the only religion that can be linked to this true god. She is evident in the laws of physics that govern all objective reality. She is manifest in the beauty of mathematical expressions that state these laws and the resultant natural phenomena. Images from the Hubble Space Telescope display her awesome and infinite nature. How could any one with any sense associate such a real and beautiful god with the primitive, pathetic, and violent god of the Bible? Those who do so are the ones that has a cause to fear, not someone like yourself who is engaged in arguably the most noble act: To search for True God.
You will find in Chapter 6 of the Book Online that the fiery and often blood-thirsty Biblical god Yahweh was based on Amun rather than Akhenaten's universal and loving god, Aten. As Charles says Judaism is a late version of Amunism. It was never truly monotheistic as a multitude of minor gods continued to have power in the form of angels and fallen angels.
