Is this nother part of the "British Connection" puzzle? (see Cliff Carrington's website). Wasn't Vespatian in Britain at about the same time as Marius? After reading Carrington's article I had to wonder if the Flavian angle (pun intended) didn't have some sort of connection to England.
Just speculating.
