The Birth of "Tutu"

There's a more obvious identity of Tut in the Amarna Letters, that of "Tutu". See discussion in Chapter 27 under the section "Out of the Mouth of Babes":

Tut's birth is dated to Year 9 of Akhenaten. I don't know how firm that is, I'd have to recheck the sources. Possibly it is placed in that year so as not to overlap the birth of any of Akhenaten's daughters. However, because Tut was the son of Tiye and not Nefertiti, then obviously he could have been born at the same time as any of the daughters. The same would apply to Smenkhkare, as he was the older full-brother of Tut.

The name Mary most definitely relates back to the Egyptian name Merit/Mery!
