Keys to the Persian Kingdom

No, I'm referring to the fact that the Patriarchs were not humble shepherds but "Great Kings" lording it over the earth. Similarly, David, Solomon and the Divided Kingdom that followed was not centered in Israel but along the banks of the Nile and the Euphrates. It was not a kingdom but THE KINGDOM!

As we transition from the Babylonian Period into the Persian, we quickly realize that we already know this family of rulers. They are conforming to the same stereotypes and pulling the same stunts as their predecessors in every previous dynasty. What's even more interesting is that later royals from the Roman Period looked back on the Persian Period as well and modeled themselves after figures from that era. They clearly saw the Persian royal family as their ancestors, and as ancestors that set precedents for them to carefully emulate.
