As part of this year's research, we will be exploring the relationship between Alexander the Great and Ptolemy, and how it became a pattern for the later Jesus and Paul to emulate. For example, Ptolemy was implicated in the murder of Alexander, but later established his perpetual cult. He also created a new religion, Serapis. Paul initially also saw Jesus as a twin/rival, but later accepted the superiority of his brother's election and became the chief architect of Christianity. It could even be said that in the long run Paul upstaged Jesus, even as Ptolemy did Alexander.
