Magdalena has touched upon the other critical dimension of Josephus. He was in fact the second son of Jesus Christ (Marcus Crassus Frugi/Aristobulus III/Tigranes II/Izates), who is even called Josephes in Grail tradition. The further association of Josephus/Josephes with the Joseph-figure Nerva simply completes the picture. It explains how Christianity and the writings of Josephus were able to survive and ultimately thrive. Granted, Christianity was still very much an innovation and remained controversial even within the royal family for some time. Yet if they had not been the products of the royal family, they would not have had any chance of taking hold. Both were legacies received by later emperors that claimed descent from Nerva (and through him also Aristobulus/Jesus).
