Claudians, the "Lame" Family

One of the salient features of the ancient royal family is the high incidence of cripples. Interesting that the leading Roman name Claudius/Claudian means "lame".

There are some other interesting definitions on this site. For example, Agrippa is said to mean, "landgrabber". The only other credible definition I've seen for this name comes from the Greek word for "horse". Land and horses are two other prominent characteristics of ancient royalty.
