I am associating Izates with the Herodian prince/king Aristobulus III. In the Helen and Agbarus story (as related by Josephus), the father of Izates is identified as "Bazeus". Perhaps this was meant to signify B'Zeus, "(son) of Zeus". If so, that isn't particularly helpful other than to indicate royalty.
I'm getting ready to post commentary on Chapter 4 of "The New Testament Code". I think this will clear up any further ambiguity regarding the identites of Izates, Helen, and Agbarus.
