Plethon / Pletho and Plato?
In Response To: Socrates and Shakespeare ()

Thanks Charles! Interestingly it is also suggested that Plato was also an invention, or at least he was mysteriously moved into the ancient past. For some consideration of this proposal, you might well want to read;

Of course one might also consider the mass of material that has been written about Shakespeare, and whether or not he really existed also! If a personality with the status of Shakespeare can be challenged by learned men and women, then why not Socrates and Plato? Certainly the times of Shakespeare existed during a very recent period compared to the others mentioned (if you accept the current chronology), one can easily even understand the English involved (that is it is mostly current English).

In any case, it is certain that many of his plays were nothing more than small pieces of history made comedy or tragedy!
