The assignment of dynasties is rather arbitrary. It was always a member of the extended royal family that ascended to the throne whenever a father-son succession failed. The idea of Ramses being the son of a low-ranking army officer named Sety who worked his way up through the ranks is an example of those ludicrous assumptions that Egyptologist make.
