This name Barbelo is very peculiar. It includes the elements bar and bel, or "son of Bel/Re", the typical title of pharaohs. However, in the context of Gnostic texts it would seem to relate especially to the invisible spirit realm of Osiris (who was the sacrificed "son of Re").
James brother of Jesus is the next subject on our list of "Eisenman topics". As a Jacob (Bel/Re) figure, it is not surprising that the stereotypical epithets of Bel/Re would be applied to him, such as Beliar.
