"Ptolemy Ceraunus, King of Thrace and Macedonia also went by the name of Ptolemy 'the Thunderbolt'. Keraunos means 'the Thunderbolt.' "
Although the name Ceraunus seems to connect with Varuna/Avaran, the meaning associates better with Zeus or Adad. But possibly this was intended and increased the prestige of the person by associating him with multiple deities. This name might also reveal something about the personality of the Ptolemies, that is, they were perhaps fond of cheesy epithets such as Maccabee, "the Hammer".
