Yes, but some popes were seated when they were very young, just like kings. The "bully pulpit" of its time was usually bought! Or as we would say today "purchased!" But, no matter what the age of accession, one would expect any man who was not in the throughs of death to exist more than three or four years on the average. After all, they had the best of everything! The best food, best medicine, best attendents, etc.!
And, unlike kings, they did not have power hungry sons coniving for the throne!
