THE ARK OF THE COVENANT was a wooden box which according to the Bible is described as being 2.5 cubits by 1.5 cubits by 1.5 cubits, roughly 3'X 5' with a depth of 3' and was covered with gold. At each end were cherubim (Angels, the wood was acacia. A crown was around the top(Ex.25). Access was permitted on the Day of Atonement and was restricted only to the HIGH PRIEST. The HIGH PRIEST gained access to the Holy of Holies with the blood of a goat to atone for the sins's of the people of Israel and himself. The penalty for touching the ARK OF THE COVENANT was death. Inside of THE ARK OF THE COVENANT are three items; the two stone tablets of Law, Aaron's rod that budded and the golden pot of 'hidden' manna.
Inside of the Tomb of Tutankhamen is an ARK for the afterlife which is protected by Anubis. The Ark of Noah is entirely different in that it was a boat specifically built to survive the Flood.
