Well, we are going to disagree on this particular subject. The life of the subjects in Ancient Egypt, especially during the first half of the 18th Dynasty, were not the lived in the oppressive environment you paint. For instance, women's right in the last several decades are just now returning to what they were in Ancient Egypt. The problems for Egypt were not oppressive pharaohs but negligent pharaohs who disregarded protecting the country from its enemies. Akhenaton is the exemplar of this problem.
The Egyptian Culture lasted basically intact for a very long period of time. This is not unexpected because the relations between the sexes had a significant degree of parity.
