In the photo of Akhenaten featured on the main page there is a shadow behind the head. Maybe this is what gives the impression of a horse neck. I was not allowed to use a flash when taking the picture, so the shadow was an unavoidable artifact. Also, depending on the format of your computer monitor the photo might be stretched. This would exaggerate/distort the face of Akhenaten even more than it is in the actual statue. So we have to be careful what deductions we make from a two-dimensional photo posted on the Internet.
I do agree with Eddie that the features of the face look quite Jewish. The first time I saw the giant head of Akhenaten I said to myself, "Holy Moses!!"
