Thanks for your response. It is interesting that you mentioned David and Goliath. Have you ever read the "Autobiography of Sinuhe?" They are quite similar. Now do you think that the story of David and Goliath was based on the Autobiography? Perhaps.

I am not against your concept of the story, but "myth" is a modern idea connotating exaggeration, superstiion, and even lies. i don't think that myth is really helping explain what you are trying to say. I recommend the term "ancient literature", allowing for an artistic as well as historical meaning. Myth is something we "superior" moderns use to look down on that which we don't understand. It is a form of insecurity; you know, we are so smart today, that we are supposed to know everything. Well, unfortunately (or fortunately) we do not know everything.
