No mythology?

You say:

"I would like to say that there is no such thing as myth. There is only ancient writing which we do not understand."

Ignoring religion and ethics and politics that cloud the issue, lets examine the less controversial Legend of King Arthur, which I will claim is mythology.

The story of King Arthur is quite understandable.

There is no great mystery in the King Arthur romances. Modern historians and literary analysts have thoroughly understood what was going on in the themes of these stories, legends and myths. The symbolism becomes obvious when critically examined.

The people in the mythology of King Arthur are almost 100% fantasy characters much like the fantasy characters of Walt Disney or the TV series "The Simpsons".
