Thanks Helge, I wish I could say that it gets easier after Chapter 20, but people have at least told me that the writing gets better. It is definitely worth pressing on to Chapters 25-27 where Elijah and Elisha are discussed. Then take another break.
Real history has turned out to be a lot more intricate that the stuff being passed off as such by archaeologists. Still I think the basic pattern that was deliberately repeated in each dynasty makes even the most chaotic period understandable and satisfying to figure out. The vast jumble of names does reduce to something manageable. Good luck with the journey. -Charles
