The History Channel special, "Angels and Demons Decoded" aired again this afternoon. Although it uses many of the same talking heads as the corresponding Discovery Channel documentary, the emphasis is completely different. The History Channel came across as very positive toward the movie and encouraged a new dialog between faith and science. In contrast, the Discovery Channel documentary was little more than a hit piece on Dan Brown. Rather than focusing on issues and healing the rift between faith and science (stability and the need for progress), it instead chose to poke holes in Brown's fictitious plot. It rather missed the point I think and represents the ultra-defensive attitude of those who feel threatened by honest investigation.
