Annual Humanism Award

Humanism can be found all the way back in the Old Testament. It is acknowledged but rebuked.

Psalms 82:6-7

I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men and fall like one of the princes."

This was certainly the case of Korah when he organized a parliament against the privileged elite.

Numbers 16:2-3

"And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them and the Lord is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the Lord?"

Humanism got its start when the nobility demanded the same respect as royalty. The mentality was that if one was divine then all were. But of course the converse might also be true: if one is not divine then none are.
