My research confirms the relation of the Egyptian god Geb (Ninurta) with the planet Saturn. The salient characteristics of Geb were his large size, manliness and lustiness, but also his "falling". Despite that fall, the throne was even in dynastic times still considered to be that of Geb, and Geb continued to be referred to as "the heir".
Other gods could be associated with Saturn as well, which complicates the determination of the original meaning. For example, Shu/Enlil/Cronos was the father of Geb. Thoth/Shamash was considered a successor in the throne of Geb.
But, how can there be anything but speculation as to what this all means in a cosmological sense?
