The Spring 2008 issue of KMT features an article on Smenkhkare.
It is an excerpt from a forthcoming book by KMT editor Dennis Forbes on the Amarna Period pharoahs (Imperial Lives, Vol 2). Forbes concludes that the KV55 burial was that of Smenkhkare. He also postulates that both Smenkhkare and Tutankhuamun were the sons of Queen Tiye. One other fascinating aspect of the article is discussion of a portrait of Smenkhkare and Meritaten in which Smenkhkare is supported (or walking) on a crutch and being offered Mandrakes (as a therapeutic or and/or aphrodisiac) by Meritaten.
