Everything We Didn't Know About Mummies

No single technique is sufficient. Carbon dating technology is calibrated to render dates that make sense within the standard chronology. DNA testing would be more useful if we could be certain that we have the right mummy!

By the way, the NOVA Documentary on the royal New Kingdom mummy found at Niagara Falls aired again recently. Fascinating!

It's interesting that carbon dating of the Ontario mystery mummy indicated a date of around 700 BC (standard chronology). As noted in one of the links above, there are a number of missing royal mummies besides Ramses I, such as Aye, Nakhtmin, and Horemheb.
