Larry, it seems Paul invented "Management by Getting Around"!
CW, I had forgotten that Paul's heir was Marius/Marcion, a name that sounds like Mucianus. Recall that Paul/Pompeius Magnus married one of the daughters of Claudius. Her son was either his true or adopted ("eldest") son.
Paul and Mucianus do seem to be acting in concert throughout the Jewish Revolt. I don't necessarily see a conflict between Mucianus and Vespatian either. Mucianus appears to be "preparing the way" for Vespatian. The epistles of Paul also anticipate the "coming of Titus". Paul and his son must have been allied with Vespatian and his son.
